Drink & Draw: July

Drink and Draw returns July 6th. We are teaming up with the lovely people of Town Square to host this event, kindly sponsored by Inkmonkey Art Supplies. Town Square’s great selection of hot food, coffee and of course beer will be available throughout the session. Drawing materials will be provided by the Inkmonkey crew, but feel free to bring your own sketchbooks, pens and pencils.

Music will be provided by Drone Mansions DJs. Free in and doors at 7:00pm. Prizes from Inkmonkey, Framewerk & Town Square

Drinks Offers: Budweiser/ Coors : £2.50 bottle

                        Selected Boundary : 2 for £6

                        Half Price Cocktails

For those of you out there new to Drink & Draw, here’s how it goes. Grab a beer, wine or cocktail of choice. Sit. This is life drawing, but no nakedness of course. I frequently ask for models from the crowd, the willing staff of Town Square or LOFT buddies to pose for a series of drawings. We start with 2 minute poses, moving up to 5 minutes then 10 minutes, sitting or standing.

There’s a break and we intersperse with getting attendees to draw the person, next to or opposite them. After an hour and a half or so, you are asked to submit your favourite drawing to be voted for. The most votes wins first prize, a voucher from Town Square and their drawing framed, by Framewerk. Runner up gets the voucher from Inkmonkey. Everyone gets that deeply sought appreciation from their peers and we all have a good time.

Glenn Kennedy’s been doing the branding and identity work for Drink & Draw at Town Square and for the third time he’s nailed it with this awesome sharpener wine glass amalgamation for our poster. If Drink & Draw sounds like your bag, click through and hit attend on our event page. On a sidenote, if you missed Illustrate last time round. (It was the week after Drink & Draw) It will also make a triumphant return in July with more professional doodlers taking to the boards, providing some live illustration! Hopefully you can catch both.
